ABOUT BRAD THOMPSON COMPANY

Built on Expertise Driven By Results

For over four decades, BTCo has been a trusted partner to industrial and utility clients across the Pacific Northwest and beyond — combining deep technical knowledge with long-standing manufacturer relationships to deliver distributed energy solutions that work.
OUR STORY

Pacific Northwest Roots.
National Reach.

Brad Thompson Company (BTCo) was founded in 1978 and has grown into one of the Pacific Northwest's premier distributed energy and industrial process equipment representatives. Headquartered in Kirkland, Washington, BTCo serves clients across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Alaska, Colorado, and nationally.

We specialize in Combined Heat & Power (CHP) systems that utilize process steam and water for the efficient production of electricity. Our client base spans industrial, commercial, and university markets — from pulp and paper mills to ethanol processing plants to university CHP installations.

BTCo holds exclusive or preferred territory representation for a curated set of world-class equipment manufacturers, offering clients a single technically capable resource rather than a collection of transactional vendor relationships. Our factory engineering connections give clients access to resources that go far beyond what a typical distributor or broker can provide.

Today, BTCo operates from its main office in Kirkland, WA with an additional business development presence in Castle Rock, CO — extending our reach into Rocky Mountain and national markets.

Dave Salem is the Managing Partner of Brad Thompson Company, bringing over 30 years of combined heat & power experience to BTCo's clients. A Licensed Chemical Engineer, Dave has led BTCo’s transformation from a leading industrial manufacturer representative into a complete turnkey supplier offering engineering, design, and solutions for biomass and natural gas fueled CHP energy projects — from concept development through project delivery.

Dave’s career spans domestic power generation, renewable energy equipment supply, and process equipment — with extensive work in initial concept evaluations, technology due diligence and selection, feasibility studies, subcontract management, and execution planning. He is widely recognized as a leader in the sub-20MW steam turbine market, with fifteen-plus years of focused expertise in this space.

Technology experience includes woody biomass, pellets, biogas, industrial and municipal waste streams for dedicated power, fuel conversions, gas turbines, co-generation, and gas and liquid fuel production applications.
